Cigarettes may have traces of pig blood

April 1, 2010

Boy! This article really made my eyes wide open at this odd hour. It says that tobacco companies have been urged to come clean on pig’s blood after a recent Dutch research which identified 185 industrial uses of a pig including the use of its haemoglobin as a cigarette filter.

The research found out that pig haemoglobin – a blood protein – was being used as cigarette filters because it trapped harmful chemicals effectively before it could enter a smoker’s lungs. The article did not list any cigarette’s brands which is understandable as I am sure this will affect their sales.

You can read more from the article.
