Happy Birthday Your Majesty
Saw the audience and investiture ceremony as part of His Majesty’s birthday celebration this morning, live over RTB. Every year Bruneians would tune in to listen to His Majesty’s titah or Royal Speech.
This morning, His Majesty talked about energy saving, food security, the Tobacco Order, and on the SPN 21 or the country’s education strategy for the 21st century. Internationally, His Majesty was pleased with the country’s active participations in various organizations such as Asean, APEC, OIC and the Commonwealth. His Majesty also talked on the need of security through forum and meetings.
His Majesty ended his titah by thanking everyone who supported His Majesty’s Government and to those who put up effort in making his birthday celebrations a success.
His Majesty then consented to present the Brunei’s honours and medals. Heading the list was the Head of the Malaysian Police, Yang Berhormat Tan Sri Datuk Seri Musa who received the Darjah Pahlawan Perkasa Darja Pertama; followed by 29 others who received various titles from Dato Seri Setia to Dato Seri Laila Jasa and Dato or Datin Paduka. 14 of these received the Pingat Setia Negara Brunei or SNB Darjah Ketiga, third class.
As I listened to the Tv commentator, I could not help noticing that he was talking on the actions, which obviously could be seen by viewers. I wish he would give more information on who the recipients were. He did, but only for a few and at one stage he missed one name. The local press would surely print the full coverage tomorrow. I thought the events which have taken place were already updated in the official website, not there yet.
Anyway, I look forward to see more events as part of the celebration. If you want to see celebrations in full swing in Brunei, this is the time. The other is no doubt during the Hari Raya celebration where the Istana Nurul Iman normally open its doors for everyone.
