Expos, fairs and the likes
Happy to know more fairs and expositions (or expo for short), are coming our way in the next few weeks.
– The Local Products Fairs, 29 Nov – 02 Dec at Kedai Bumiputera Fasa II in Temburong (first time I heard something this big being held there);
– The ‘Karnival Jualan SME Hujung Tahun 07 & Back to School 08’, 23 Dec ’07 – 01 Jan ’08 at Indoor Stadium, Berakas; and
– The Brunei International Trade and Consumer Exhibition, 28 Nov – 02 Dec at (where else) The Mall, Gadong.
Why am I posting these here? Not actually to publicise them (nor I get royalties for this and those posted earlier). It just came across my mind when I heard about the upcoming events that I wondered how many expo or fair or whatever fancy names you wanted to call them, are held every year in Brunei.
The famous fair would be those IT-related fairs, BITEX – have been going on for donkey years now and still going strong; lifestyle – beauty (to attract the fairer sex and those who think they need beauty products); health – the First Brunei Health Expo – a sounding success; and the funniest of them all – those endless year-end, mid-year or new year sales! Did I already mention about sales – Raya sales – Chinese New Year sales and back to school sales? Lucky we don’t have Back to Work sales yet!
Another thing to note is that it’s always the same company or vendor who are taking part fair after fair. In this year alone, I have met more than ten times that sales person who sold me a desktop which I bought a year ago. Yes, still selling desktops and computer peripherals.
Bruneians have a high purchasing power (hope they have a lot of money of they own in their pockets too) and it come to no surprise that organisers would grab this powerful knowledge and make full use of (or capitalise) them. I hope consumers, like me, to be aware when buying from such sales. Be prudent guys.
