Hot and cold therapy

My hot and cold therapy pack - small and handy - fit in my handbag!

For a couple of years now, I have stiff shoulders and pain around my upper back. I know all along its due to long hours of sitting down (thanks to work) and stress. From time to time, I have either full body massage or the head, neck and shoulder massage; just to ease the pain. However, after the massaging session, the pain will surely come back.

My cousin introduced me to this hot and cold pack. It cost Br$50 for two big sizes and one small one. A belt (to be used around your tummy with the pack inside its pocket) would cost an additional Br$70.

As the name says, you can use it either hot or cold. The benefits: ease those pains I mentioned earlier; weight-loss; soothes the tired eyes; for beauty – use hot for massaging in during cleansing and cold for closing the pores; and many more actually. Hot and Cold therapy is more commonly use by sports people, though us, ordinary human beings like me, can also benefit from it.

Cold is generally applied to acute injuries immediately after trauma. Cold therapy constricts blood vessels to reduce the swelling, help block pain and promote healing. Hot therapy on the other hand is applied to chronic injuries to increase the blood flow and help the body remove and reabsorb cellular by-products. Heat is also soothing and cen reduce pain and stiffness. [Heat should never be applied to an acute injury unless under the direction of a professional].
